The reverse of the painting carries a handwritten pencil inscription reading "Tilhører Inga B... 1926" — Danish or Norwegian for "belongs to Inga B...", confirming the work was in Scandinavian private ownership by 1926. A blue chalk notation "No 47" on the stretcher bar strongly suggests the painting was catalogued and exhibited at an official art exhibition. Both inscriptions appear consistent in age with the painting itself.
